The King John Bible Area
That's right, this is the King John Bible Area, and what it means
is simple We have all heard the misquotes and misconceptions that people
claim as accurate.
Usually, we can simply chuckle a bit and go on with our lives, but
in many cases, people are severely harmed by implied doctrines which are
far from accurate. As Christians, it is our responsibility to have "studied
to show ourselves approved..."(2 Tim.2:15) but often fail to do
so!
The results of a lack of understanding and compassion will come back
to haunt us if we aren't careful, because we will be held accountable.
The topics linked below will open the door for your own input to us if
you care to do so, and perhaps you'll become that "angel" someone meets
"unawares."
Which version of the Bible do we use? Honestly, we use a variety. True,
it is said that only the King James Bible is the valid one, but I must
take exception to that. There are at this time, in publication at least
three versions of the KJV to choose from. The original 1611 version was
followed by a later translation, and now we have the New King James Version.
Why? Each version was to be a more accurate and easier to read version,
according to the scholars and of course, the publishers!
The truth is, that as archeology contributed to our knowledge of the
Semitic peoples and their cultures, the first important misnomer was corrected.
There was never a separate "Biblical" language used. Also, the number of
documents that were discovered, added to the total available manuscripts
etc. that were available for study and comparison of the ancient texts
which were never intended to be Christian in the first place.
Christianity as we know it today is a "modern" religion in the scheme
of time. From this has emerged some even more modern and outright dangerous
forms of religions claiming validity that we must also account for. As
a result, we must study and compare, as did those first precious translators,
as much text as we can avail ourselves of, in order to be as well equipped
as it is possible to be. 2 Tim. 3:16&17 allows for both
good and bad material ("for reproof") if we search for true enlightenment.
How else can we properly expose and prove others wrong? This is particularly
important when it comes to dealing with many tracts, The New World Translation
and The Book of Mormon.
The mature Christian will pray, and then confidently rely upon the guidance
and protection of The Holy Spirit, so as to know what is true and false!!!
Some misquotes and ideas for you to ponder!
1. "Money is the root of all evil." What the Bible says, in 1 Tim.6:10,
is "The LOVE of money ..."! What a
difference a word makes.
2. "God helps those who help themselves." I'm still searching for this
one in any Bible.
3. "God does not allow divorce or remarriage for any reason."
Matthew 19:9 (RSV) says something quite different. The Greek word "FORNICATION"
(porneia
and porneu) comes into play here. When one looks up the meaning of that
word, we find it means sexual uncleanness that goes beyond adultery.
4. "All churches are the same." Read
True Chruch
5. "All you have to do to get to heaven is be a good person"
but Jesus said in Mt 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest
thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt
enter into life, keep the commandments.
6. Jesus said "Feed my sheep" in John 21:15-17. Now it seems
that we are seeing "FLEECE MY SHEEP."
