Jehovah's Witness Terminology
- AWAKE A watchtower periodical used to introduce Jehovah's Witnesses to the
public in an effort to recruit people to inquire about and attend local meetings.
- GOATS The JW's term for people who are not members of the organization. They
are seen as those who will be judged by God as in Matthew 25:31-46
- GREAT CROWD The term "sheep" is also used. Referring to the majority of JW's
who will not live in heaven, but rather, will inhabit the restored Paradise Earth after
Christ's return.
- JEHOVAH Taught as being the only correct name for Almighty God.
- JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES A term derived from Isaiah 43:10 in 1931, as the official
title of Zion's Watchtower Society.
- KINGDOM HALL The name of the building used for meetings and member's
instruction.
- LITTLE FLOCK Also the "144,000" and the "anointed class," meaning the elite
group of JW's who will live in heaven and reign with Christ, after this life.
- MICHAEL The archangel who was supposedly Jehovah's first creation and then later
became the man Jesus.
- NEW WORLD TRANSLATION The official Watchtower Bible. It contains many
mistranslations in order to support the Watchtower theology.
- THE WATCHTOWER A publication to instruct the society's membership.
