The Jehovah's Witnesses
Knock, Knock, Knock-- "who's at the door?"
"I see two, maybe there's more--"
"Do I let them in?"
"It's no sin."
"Who am I to say, maybe there's a way --
for them to meet the Lord,
Not Hell's eternal stay!" Having read the poem, some will laugh, and others will be ready to make some very very
harsh accusations about making fun of someone else's faith. That is not at all the case
though. There is no mockery, but a very deep concern for these misguided people. Which Bible? There are, of course, many versions of the Bible, such as the King James (1611 through
NKJ), The Revised Version, New Revised Version, American Standard, New American
Standard, Douay Version (Catholic), Darby, Geneva, New International, New English, and
so on down a very long list. It could be easily said "no wonder people don't take the Bible
seriously, its been changed so much." That dear heart, is exactly what lies at the center
of the controversy with the scripture cited above. You see, TNWT is the only one which
deviates in its word usage of Gen1:2! But, to make matters even more difficult, consider
Mark 3:29,30 - which reads:
Their Doctrines " Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one
sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous person who need no repentance."Luke
15:7 RSV. In order to help these people, we must be prepared to do so. There are tracts, books and
of course Bible studies, which can enable you to do so. Are you willing to open your door
and share the salvaton message with these people, who often as not, have joined this cult only
because of the evangelical efforts all its members are required to carry out? Or will you,
like most people, shirk that responsibility with some form of a conveinient excuse?
/center>
You see, the most powerful argument one can get into with a member of this cult is over the
existence and personage of the Holy Spirit; who to the members of the Watchtower Society,
is not a person at all. In the beginning verses of the TNWT's version of the Bible, we read
as follows:
"...and God's active force was moving to and fro, over the surface of the waters."
(Genesis 1:2b according to The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures as revised and copyrighted in 1984.)
If you are at all familiar with the Genesis accounts of creation in any other Bible
translation, you'll know that something doesn't sound right. Yes, you are correct, all of
the other accepted renditions say .."and the Spirit of God...". We have a major
problem people.
"However, whoever blasphemes against the holy spirit has no forgiveness
forever, but is guilty of everlasting sin. This because he has an unclean spirit."
Here, the difference between translations differs in a very subtle way. The words "Holy
Spirit" appear in all versions including TNWT, but the later does not use capitol letters,
and so, negates, yet again, any persona for the third member of The Trinity, all Catholics
and Protestants give credence to. Do you see how such differences could cost someone
their salvation? Please visit the links below, so that you can study, and prepare yourself to
meet with such folks, and perhaps bring, or help to bring, someone who cares about how
they stand before God, to the straight and narrow path taught in Matthew 7:13,14.
