The Jews didn't have any Etch-A-Sketches, but the Bible does speak of something
familiar to them that conveys the same idea-clay in the hands of a potter. "Then I went down
to the potter's house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. And the vessel that
he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel,
as it seemed good to the potter to make. Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: 'O
house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?' says the LORD. 'Look, as the clay is in
the potter's hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!' " (Jeremiah 18:3-6).
There are times that I make a mess of my life. The image isn't being formed that God
wants to be formed. So I have to be reshaped like clay. I have to be picked up and shaken,
like an Etch-A-Sketch. That process occurs over and over, and will continue to occur until I
reflect the image of Jesus Christ. Lord, please mold me and shake me and do whatever it takes
to bring about the image of your Son in my life.
Thanks Missy, this is superlative.
