Eve

Ge 3:20  And Adam called his wife's  name Eve<02332>; because she was the mother  of all living .

02332 Chavvah {khav-vaw'}  causatively from 02331; n pr f   AV - Eve 2; 2

 Eve = "life" or "living"
 1) the first woman, wife of Adam

In order to learn of the true significance and importance of the world's first female, we must remind ourselves of just how unique a human she was.  Only in this way, can either of the God ordained genders of humankind, be fully appreciated.  To do so, we must review the creative order.

 1 Ti 2:13  For  Adam was  first formed, then Eve.

Please be reminded that having named all the creatures God had made to be helpers to Adam, he  (Adam) realized that he was the only one of his human kind.  Once again, God utilizes a a situation of awareness and human emotion, to teach Adam still another important lesson; the lesson of God's omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient powers!  See  below:

Ge 2:21  And the LORD  God caused  a deep sleep  to fall  upon Adam , and he slept: and he took one of his ribs , and closed up the flesh  instead thereof;

Lightheartedly. we could refer to this event as being the only recorded human male birth experience, and also the world's first cesarean section.  However, there are some implications here that open some doors that many will not like in the least.  Nevertheless, the account stands on its own merit.

We must also consider the difference between how Eve was formed (made).  Adam was formed from the dust of the ground, but Eve was made from the result of that prior fashioning.    The result is that Adam in one sense, had lost something of his being, both physically and if you will - spiritually.  As a result though, he gained a companion part of himself.  Herein lies the explanation of why "we fall in love."    Without a great deal of elocution - the man's body wanted the rib back, and the rib wanted to return to the man's body.   WOW!  Those of you who are overly oriented in psychology can have a field day with that one.  And just to stir the pot a bit, now that we know more about heart transplants and the like - we can also add the rejection problem.  And just how did Adam react to all of this?

 Ge 2:23  And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she  shall be called  Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

 At this juncture we must view another uniqueness concerning this new member of humanity.   So Eve, according to God's divine plan, would have two masters (caretakers) - her husband and God.   It is this uniqueness that the adversaries of God's law have so relentlessly attacked.  How can I dare to say this?  Simply because it was Adam who was commanded to be God's guardian/caretaker of Eden.  As we go on to other studies, you can decide for yourself, whether or not to accept what any  fundamentalist or literalist preacher/teacher would expound upon, including the apostles.

BUT

Never, ever, should a man abuse a woman!!   Never, ever, should she be treated as chattel, or a mere - well, you know the colloquial comments and jokes that abound.  If the truth be known, and lived, and thereby properly fulfill the divine plan and order of things, males and females are coequally responsible to God.  If they fail in this (their respective) responsibilities, trouble (sin) will most certainly find them.  Not a one of us living today wrote these scriptures and His laws.  But we are, all of us, directly responsible to keep them!  All else is foolish rebellion.  i.e. the fallen, carnal, nature.

Eve was the final act of God in creating what we now know of as life.  She was the final act of Adam's naming process.  She was a precious, all important being.  She was also the least experienced person in the Edenic garden, and in time became the vessel of Satan's Big Three!   Should she be hated or denounced in any way? Absolutely not!  She should be recognized and appreciated as God's special creation whose purpose in life cannot be changed.    She is the mother of all living!
